The World Was Quiet on New Year's Day

For the first time in ages, I actually went to a party on New Year's Eve. In truth, half of my family was ill for one reason or another, and my father and I made a brief appearance at a party to which we had been invited. I drank champagne and discussed matters of educational policy with a Cambridge-educated computer science professor at St. Joe's. One interesting bit from this conversation was he disliked every calculus textbook ever written. When I asked about Spivak, he modified his remarks, mentioning also one by someone called Apostol. If anyone has it, I'd like to see it sometime, though I'm sure it's in the library.

We returned home. I stayed up until midnight and went to bed. I lay about yesterday, reading and listening to Radiohead or the new LOTR soundtrack. Spent the evening watching Zulu .

Today's agenda is spending time with by little brother and organizing what summer job information is currently available.
