Salon's current Day Pass is being sponsored by a record company who is promoting a jazz musician about my age named Peter Cincotti. There was just something about him that seemed familiar to me, so I checked his biography to make sure that I wasn't pulling a connection out of thin air. I wasn't. A few years ago, I was going up to Boston on the train with an older gentleman who knew southern New England well and told me everything he knew. He was a wonderful man and we had a great time together, which made the long train ride to Boston seem short. He mentioned that his grandson, who was about my age, was a decent jazz musician who lived in New York. He showed me his demo tape. I remembered that one of the songs on the tape was "Rainbow Connection" famous from one of the Muppet movies. The biography confirmed my suspicions with "The Rainbow Connection." It turns that man's grandson was Peter Cincotti. I often think that I know various people other people know, but I am unable to confirm my suspicions. I think I am going to trust my instincts more from now on.
